In the early morning hours of June 23, 2025, Bolivarstrasse in Dresden Trachau became the scene of a dramatic thunderstorm. Lightning struck the roof of an apartment building and immediately set it on fire. Fortunately, the residents were able to leave the building in time and alert the fire department. This reports Pieschen Current.

At 6:47 a.m., when the fire department arrived, flames were already coming out of the roof ridge and thick smoke was visible. The emergency services immediately initiated the extinguishing attack from the outside using a turntable ladder and removed roof tiles in order to get the fire under control. High-performance fans were also used to remove the smoke from the building. Tragically, during the inspection with a thermal imaging camera, a smoldering fire was discovered under the roof cladding, which continued to spread. The fire department then mobilized additional forces to extinguish the fire in a more targeted manner and to open more areas of the roof. The smoke increased again, temporarily complicating the situation.
