Green oases for townspeople: New brochure for urban development published!

Altstadt, Deutschland - On June 10, 2025, everything revolves around the development and design of urban rooms in Dresden. The focus is particularly on the “Living Seestrasse” initiative, which aims at green and livable urban development. The city recently released a brochure that provides comprehensive information on the "urban green infrastructure".

This brochure is the result of a research and development project by the Federal Nature Conservation Office, which deals with the fundamental issue of oases in urban areas. According to bfn.de, it presents definitions and goals that include both planning principles and practical implementation options in municipal practice.

design urban oases

The goal of this initiative is clear: the securing and development of green infrastructure in cities should be promoted to improve the quality of life for the citizens. Based on the findings, actors are integrated and strategic steps are determined that are necessary to realize this vision. The brochure is supported by various associations, including the German Garden Office Manager Conference and the BUND for the Environment and Nature Conservation Germany.

An important aspect of the urban green infrastructure is that it not only contributes to improving air quality, but also helps to deal with heavy rain events. This opens up new perspectives for urban planning, which should increasingly be based on ecological aspects. Potential areas for green projects are also identified.

A look into the future

As part of this project, it can be seen how the link between public space and nature should be very important in urban development. This green infrastructure is not only aesthetically appealing, but it also enables cities to become more resistant to climate change.

Further information on these exciting approaches and the associated projects can be found on the platforms that deal with urban green infrastructure, such as the LSS or the district newspapers, who report on the "lively sea streak".

How to continue in the city and which new projects are to be waiting for, but one thing is certain: the future of Dresden should be designed green and worth living.
