Plauen connects: Gastronomy and culture united in the town hall!
In the heart of Plauen, a special event under the motto “Plauen connects – gastronomy meets culture” took place in the town hall last weekend. Around 30 representatives from the areas of gastronomy, hotels and culture came together to discuss current challenges in an open dialogue and to develop common solutions. Mayor Tobias Kämpf and Lena Schaller, the managing director of the umbrella organization Stadtmarketing Plauen e.V., warmly invited people and emphasized the need for close cooperation for sustainable concepts that enrich social life in Plauen.
The participants had a lot to tell. Representatives of the cultural sector reported on the increasing demand for gastronomic offerings from tourist guests. At the same time, restaurateurs and hoteliers shared their experiences with conference and event visitors, which formed the basis for the development of new ideas to strengthen both areas. Initial approaches should be deepened in further rounds of discussions and checked for their feasibility, whereby committed idea providers are warmly welcome to actively participate in shaping life in Plauen.
A network for Plauen
The event in the town hall represents an important step towards reuniting the gastronomy, hotel industry and culture. The umbrella organization Stadtmarketing Plauen e.V. plays a key role in this. It brings together almost 150 members and promotes exchange between business and cultural institutions. “Getting to know each other personally and building trust are essential for future collaborations,” says Lena Schaller.
Attractive urban platforms should also contribute to the visibility of companies and strengthen the city's image. These include the shopping portal “Shopping, feasting and more”, a digital 360-degree tour and the city voucher. These tools are designed to increase both local providers and tourist attraction, promoting the city as a vibrant destination.
Events and local projects
Plauen's gastronomy and culture do not stand still. The umbrella organization has also launched a competition that invites citizens to submit ideas for the next mulled wine cup at the Plauen Christmas market. This initiative, carried out in collaboration with the city of Plauen, shows the community's commitment to keeping traditional customs alive and modernizing them. Various events are also being planned to enliven the cityscape, including the #lieblingsplatzPlauen900 photo competition, in which the best places in Plauen will be chosen.
With a good hand and the right planning, the players in the city of Plauen want to set the course for a successful future. It's up to everyone involved to pull together to fully exploit Plauen's potential. The city is at an exciting turning point, where gastronomy and culture are joining forces and breaking new ground. And as we know, no good idea goes unheard if you pursue it courageously!
