Trial begins: Wife is said to have intentionally run over a jogger!

A spectacular trial began today at the Dresden Regional Court that is stirring emotions in the region. The defendants are the 52-year-old wife of a jogger and a 75-year-old acquaintance. The public prosecutor's office accuses the wife of intentionally running over her husband with her car in Klipphausen in September 2022 and thereby killing him. The acquaintance is one of two other defendants who is accused of being an accessory to murder because he is said to have obtained the vehicle and brought it to the workshop MDR reports.

Police originally assumed it was a hit-and-run accident. But as the investigation progressed, there were increasing indications that the acts were done deliberately. It took until the end of September 2024 for investigators to solve the case and take the two suspects into custody. The wife was arrested in the Meißen district, while her accomplice was taken into custody in Usedom at the beginning of October 2024. The victim was a 76-year-old man who was jogging during the incident. He was found on the street with serious injuries and died at the scene. This tragedy not only shocks the victim's family, but also the residents of Klipphausen. The exact circumstances of how this gruesome act came about remain unclear, but the murder charge suggests a dark motivation.

The investigating authorities initially assumed a traffic accident. But as suspicions grew, the police quickly broached the subject of “murder” and subsequently worked to clarify the background to the crime. This increase is a cause for concern and could indicate that isolated cases such as this one are becoming more common.
