New pump track in Hosterwitz: guaranteed fun for young and old!

In Dresden-Hosterwitz you can now discover the new attraction for young and old: a more powerful pump track was ceremoniously opened. After the closure of the old, dilapidated pump track, which no longer met safety standards, the population was looking for a new opportunity for exercise and leisure activities. City district office manager Christian Barth was extremely satisfied with the result at the opening and praised the efforts of the city and the trainees who worked on this project.

The new pump track is not only suitable for different age groups, but also for a range of vehicles, from balance bikes to professional bikes. With an investment volume of 52,000 euros, which also includes the adjacent playground with climbing options and swings, the city is providing a low-threshold exercise option. “Here in Hosterwitz we have an optimal area for such a system,” explains Barth. When designing the playground, the recommendations of young people who already had experience with pump tracks were used, as well as the expert advice of the German Initiative Mountainbike e.V. interest group. v.

Activities around the pump track

The offer around the pump track is to be provided by the street cruisers of the Roter Baum e.V. association. V. are supported. This group is already planning concrete actions that will take place in the afternoon on July 18th and will thus help to improve the meeting place situation for young people in the neighborhood. Work is also underway on future installations such as a table tennis table and table football to further diversify the leisure offering.

In addition, the new wooden seating groups, which are currently being completed by apprentices, are designed to be inviting and create space for relaxation and exchange. The entire facility has been equipped with a circular path so that older visitors and parents can watch their children play and ride.

Integration and sustainability

The city not only placed emphasis on the structural implementation, but also on sustainable modeling of the soil. The company Konrad Willar Pumptrack was commissioned for this. The project shows how important it is to create free space for young people and at the same time to practice environmentally conscious urban planning. As the Eco Pumptrack platform emphasizes, this pump track can also serve as a model for future urban planning.

Overall, the opening of the pump track in Hosterwitz is not only a successful measure to promote youth and sports culture, but also a step towards more active and sustainable urban development. The new facility is already very popular and offers a wide range of opportunities for all age groups. The people of Dresden know that a good place has been created here that brings the community together.
