Heiderand in Dresden-Bühlau: New star restaurant conquers the palate!

The “Heiderand” restaurant in Dresden-Bühlau has managed to secure a prestigious Michelin star. Loud Radio Leipzig it is the newest member of the select circle of star restaurants in Saxony. There are now a total of nine such restaurants in the state that have been recognized for their exceptional culinary achievements.

The culinary landscape of Saxony is enriched by the “Heiderand”, which now exists alongside established establishments such as the “Elements” and “Genuss-Atelier” in Dresden and the “Frieda”, “Stadtpfeiffer” and “Kuultivo” in Leipzig. The “Atelier Sanssouci” in Radebeul, the “St. Andreas” in Aue-Bad Schlema and the “Juwel” in the Hotel “Bei Schumann” in Schirgiswalde-Kirschau are also among the star winners in the region.

Tradition meets modernity

The “Heiderand” is now run by the fourth generation of Martin Walther, whose great-great-grandparents opened the restaurant as a café in 1904. In 2020, Walther took over the restaurant and converted it to modern gourmet art, with a focus on freshness, regionality and local vegetables. “We are constantly working to improve the quality of our dishes and offer guests an unforgettable experience,” Walther said MDR.

The importance of the Michelin star cannot be overstated. It is awarded for one year and is based on criteria such as the quality of the products, a personal touch, the price-performance ratio and consistent quality. There are currently 341 gourmet restaurants in Germany listed in the new “Michelin Guide”, including 12 with three stars and 47 with two stars.

More awards

In addition to the Michelin star, the gastronomy scene is also recognized by the “Gault & Millau” restaurant guide. Outstanding chefs and restaurants are awarded toques here. Gault & Millau is considered one of the most important gourmet guides in Germany and also focuses on quality and creativity in gastronomy.

The “Heiderand” award is not only a personal triumph for Martin Walther and his team, but further proof of the up-and-coming gourmet scene in Saxony. “We are pleased to be part of this impressive restaurant culture and to continue the tradition of fine dining in Dresden,” says Walther. With the Michelin star, the “Heiderand” has gained excellent visibility and is now attracting even more gourmets to the Saxon state capital.
