Concert in the Panometer: Silvio Schneider lets the Amazon sound!
Next week, the city of Dresden will be the scene of an extraordinary event: Silvio Schneider, a talented musician and composer, will present a special multi-media show at the Panometer Dresden on June 12th. Inspired by his four-week trip to the Amazon rainforest, Schneider learned a lot about the nature there and the deep rhythms of life. His experiences, including a special night outdoors listening only to the sounds of rain, now flow into his music. “The rhythm of the raindrops was a true revelation for me,” says Schneider, who studied at the Dresden University of Music and is now internationally active.
The concert takes place as part of the current exhibition by the renowned Berlin artist Yadegar Asisi, whose panorama “AMAZONIA” captures the diversity and beauty of the Brazilian rainforests on an impressive 1:1 scale. This impressive work of art will be on view until mid-2025 and, approximately 106 meters long and 27 meters high, shows various facets of the tropical rainforest, including mountain rainforests, river lowlands and impressive clearings. Schneider and Asisi share a deep connection with nature and the biodiversity of this region.
A journey into the heart of the rainforest
During his trip to the Amazon, Schneider was able to experience first-hand not only the beauty of the rain, but also the immense biodiversity of the ecosystem. Tropical rainforests are home to around half of all known animal and plant species, and the Amazon is often cited as a prime example of species-rich habitats. More than 2 million species have now been scientifically described, and estimates suggest there could be as many as 10 million. In such an environment, where life is vibrant, you realize how valuable biodiversity is for the survival of our planet. For a long time it was unknown how important this diversity is for the stability and health of ecosystems; After all, around 75% of the land area and 66% of the sea area are now significantly damaged by human activities.
Schneider also experienced points of contact with social reality in the Amazon region. He reflects on the contrasts between the poverty and joy of life of the people in Central America and the privileges he enjoys here. These profound thoughts will also be part of his concert, where visitors will hear impressive video films, photos and sounds in addition to the musical performances.
An experience for all senses
The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m., but from 6 p.m. guests can visit Yadegar Asisi's impressive panorama and the accompanying exhibition. Entrance tickets cost 30 euros, reduced price 25 euros and are available both on site at the Panometer and online. The combination of Schneider's musical interpretation and Asisi's visual art promises to be a unique experience - a real pleasure for anyone who wants to combine nature and art.
If you have any questions about the exhibition and the concert, the Panometer team and Schneider himself will be happy to help. This event is a further step in raising people's awareness of the urgency of nature conservation and the importance of biodiversity, which is only reinforced by the current discussion about the conservation of biological diversity and its protection. The Amazon Project powerfully shows how art and nature can come together to convey deeper messages.
