Concert in the panometer: Silvio Schneider can sound the Amazon!

In the coming week, the city of Dresden will be the scene of an extraordinary event: Silvio Schneider, a talented musician and composer, will present a special multi-media show in the Dresden Panometer on June 12th. Inspired by his four-week trip to the Amazon rainforest, Schneider has learned a lot about the nature and deep rhythms of life. His experiences, including a special night in the open air, where he only listened to the rain noises, are now flowing into his music. "The rhythm of the raindrops was a real revelation for me," says Schneider, who studied at the Dresden University of Music and is now internationally active.

The concert takes place as part of the current exhibition by the renowned Berlin artist Yadegar Asisi, whose panorama "Amazonia" captures the diversity and beauty of the Brazilian rainforests on an impressive 1: 1 yardstick. This impressive work of art can be seen until mid -2025 and shows different facets of the tropical rainforest at about 106 meters in length and 27 meters, including mountain rain forests, river lowlands and impressive clearings. Schneider and Asisi share a deep connection with the nature and biodiversity of this region.

a trip to the heart of the rainforest

During his trip to the Amazon, Schneider could not only experience the beauty of the rain, but also the immense biodiversity of the ecosystem. Tropical rainforests accommodate around half of all known animal and plant species, and the Amazon is often mentioned as a prime example of species-rich habitats. More than 2 million species have now been scientifically described, and estimates could be up to 10 million. In such a environment where life pulsates, you realize how valuable biodiversity for survival on our planet is. For a long time it was unknown how significant this diversity is for the stability and health of the ecosystems; After all, about 75 % of the land area and 66 % of the sea area are now significantly damaged by human activities.

Schneider has also experienced points of contact with social reality in the Amazon room. He reflects on the contrasts between the poverty and joie de vivre of the people in Central America and the privileges that he enjoys in this country. These profound thoughts will also be part of his concert, in which the visitors can also hear impressive video films, photos and sounds in addition to the musical performances.

an experience for all senses

The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m., but from 6 p.m. the guests can visit the impressive panorama of Yadegar Asisi and the accompanying exhibition. Tickets cost 30 euros, reduced 25 euros and are available both on site in the panometer and online. The combination of Schneider’s musical interpretation and Asisi’s visual art promises to become a unique experience - a real pleasure for everyone who wants to combine nature and art.

The team of the panometer and Schneider are happy to answer any questions about the exhibition and the concert. This event is another step to put the urgency of nature conservation and the importance of biodiversity into the awareness of people, which is only reinforced by the current discussion about the preservation of biological diversity and its protection. The Amazon project impressively shows how art and nature can come together to convey deeper messages.

be there and be inspired by the beauty and importance of the rainforest - both by music and art!
