Hype the Pain: Dance sensation explores pain and humor in Heidelberg!
An exciting dance event is coming! On July 31, 2025 at 8 p.m. a promising showing entitled “Hype the Pain” (German: Celebrate the Pain) will take place in the Choreographic Center Heidelberg. The choreography duo Maria Chiara de Nobili and Alexander Miller deal with the influence of online humor and fleeting images on our identities and ideologies. This reports MRN News.
The concept behind “Hype the Pain” explores how laughter acts as a mechanism to mask the pain in a prejudiced world. Combining urban dance, contemporary dance and physical theater, audiences are challenged by raw movements and fragmented voices. Five dancers who rehearse during their residency at CC Heidelberg create a special atmosphere together with the music of Gabor Halász.
Premiere in Dresden
A special highlight will be the premiere in October 2025 at the HELLERAU – European Center for the Arts in Dresden. This is not only a significant debut for the duo, but also further confirmation of their growing prominence in the dance scene. “Hype the Pain” will be shown on October 24th and October 25th at 8 p.m., and ticket prices are 24 euros or reduced at 16 euros, like HELLERAU reported.
The two choreographers have been honored with numerous awards and invitations, including at the Hanover Choreographic Competition and the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh. Her technical expertise comes not only from her artistic training, but also from her ability to weave digital humor elements into her expression. Through ironic approaches, “Hype the Pain” addresses the digital world and its influence on our emotions and beliefs.
A commitment to art
Support for the project comes, among others, from funding institutions such as the Dresden Office for Culture and Monument Protection and the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony. The production is also supported by a crowdfunding campaign, which has a goal of 8,500 euros on Startnext.
Maria Chiara de Nobili, who previously danced in Milan and completed her master's degree in choreography at the Palluca University in Dresden, and Alexander Miller, who started break dancing and is co-founder of the group "THE SAXONZ", have won a place in the hearts of the dancers and audience community with their innovative approach and passion for dance.
So if you're looking for a refreshing, rousing performance, you should mark July 31, 2025 in your calendar. It's all about interweaving pain and humor in the art of dance - and that's exactly what "Hype the Pain" promises.
