Eisleben animal shelter: Enrico the cat is looking for a loving home!
A call for animal lovers and cat lovers: Numerous four-legged protégés are currently waiting for a new home at the Eisleben animal shelter. Among them are the two extremely charming tomcats Enrico and Anton, whose fates touch hearts. A recently broadcast report on the MDR program “Tierisch tierisch” with presenter Uta Bresan drew attention to some of these special animal shelter residents. Day24 reports that Enrico, a one-year-old European Shorthair, was rescued from a fruit tree by the fire department.
This magical tomcat is now looking for a quiet home where he can receive lots of care and activity. Enrico is known as an uncomplicated velvet paw and gets along well with his peers, which is why freedom would be desirable.
Anton the cat and his wishes
Anton is a completely different, but no less lovable cat. The three-legged, black-haired European Shorthair came to the shelter in April 2025 after someone became concerned for his safety. Anton is around 4-5 years old and longs for a quiet place, ideally with a gentle companion. Despite his limitations, he is friendly, curious and gets along well with other cats. MDR has published more loving details about Anton.
But that's not all! The Bengal cat mix Karlos, who was given away due to his owner's illness, and the tricolor cat TwoFace are also waiting at the animal shelter for a new phase of life. All animals are vaccinated, dewormed and neutered and hope for a loving home. Karlos, for example, needs a home with climbing opportunities and wants freedom. A real paradise for him would be a home where he can also find something to do. Of course he is not alone; Maja, Cookie, Olaf and Oskar are also ready to conquer their new human hearts.
Animal protection as a community task
However, the situation in the animal shelter is not that easy. In total there are over 720 animal shelters in Germany, and many of them fight for survival every day. Animal protection is an important issue in Germany, and the first animal protection association was founded in the mid-18th century. The German Animal Welfare Association, founded in 1881, runs around 500 animal shelters and emphasizes how important private donations and volunteers are in supporting these facilities. The platform Tierheim.de was established to support these efforts and to ensure that animal welfare and food donations go to the right address.
Finding a new home for our animal friends is often a tough task. Anyone who flirts with an animal from the animal shelter not only does an animal a service, but also gains a loyal companion. Therefore, all animal lovers are cordially invited to get to know the protégés at the Eisleben animal shelter and perhaps become the next great stroke of luck in their lives.
