Neustadt only 3rd place: Why students prefer to live elsewhere!

Dresden, the city of beautiful corners and winding streets, always has something to offer, especially for students. The Sächsische Zeitung's online voting at the beginning of September brought exciting news: the popular Neustadt, for a long time the undisputed centerpiece for students, was only voted in third place. With a total of 1,449 votes cast, the people of Dresden voted for the best districts, and Südvorstadt received the most approvals with 294 votes, followed by Löbtau with 289 votes and the Outer Neustadt with 203 votes. This gave the Neustadt, which accounted for 14 percent of the total votes, a new perspective that is worth examining. The Saxon reports about this development.

But why is the Neustadt still very popular among students despite some challenges? One point that many people point out is the diverse leisure options. Clubs, bars and cafés give the district its special charm. The nightlife and the “Bunte Republik Neustadt” district festival in particular attract many young people. The proximity to the Alum Park and the Elbe also creates an urban flair that invites you to linger. If you are looking for an active life between lectures, this is the right place.

Popular districts for students

Dresden may have 64 districts with around 62% green spaces, but there are a few that particularly stand out. Loud this is how Dresden lives and hey Dresden The following districts are popular:

The Neustadt, with all its advantages, no longer automatically holds first place. The changes in the tenant and housing market are noticeable and are attracting more and more young people to other parts of the city.

The question remains: What is really going on among the current students? Discussions are encouraged to find out what they prioritize when choosing where to live. The charm of the new town may remain, but other districts have caught up strongly. A circumstance that future district developments must also take into account in order not to lose further ground.
