Environment Day in Deutzen: You are well looked after!” – A day for nature!
On Whit Monday, June 9, 2025, the Deutzen Eco-Church invites you to the Environment Day under the motto “You are well taken care of!” a. An ecumenical service starts at 10:30 a.m., which marks the start of a varied program. The organizers are looking forward to numerous guests and promise an inspiring day that is all about sustainability. Those interested can find further information on the [Ecochurch Deutzen] website (https://www.bistum-dresden-meissen.de/aktuelles/einladen-zum-umwelttag-in-deutzen-du-bist-gut-verssorge).
The Environment Day offers a so-called market of possibilities that has numerous offers for young and old. Here, visitors can pass on their green treasures at the plant exchange market or take new plants home with them. There are also creative craft activities for children and exciting garden tours where 'green' knowledge can be deepened. Martin Schlösser takes care of your physical well-being with culinary delicacies. A special highlight is the specialist lecture at 2:00 p.m. followed by a discussion on the topic “You are well looked after – experience nature, protect the environment, shape the future”.
Sustainability in the church
But what does the motto mean? The Protestant church system has increasingly committed itself to the topics of sustainability and environmental awareness. As ekd.de reports, parishes promote a sustainable way of life through church services, educational offerings and social initiatives. This includes both the preservation of creation and the promotion of justice and peace.
Sustainable development initiatives are constantly being pushed forward. For example, there are suggestions for ethical investment that were developed in the working group of church investors, as well as numerous materials to promote an environmentally friendly lifestyle. The Micha Initiative is also actively involved in issues such as fighting poverty and sustainability.
A market full of possibilities
For little visitors, the Market of Opportunities offers creative craft stations where they can let their imagination run wild. The garden tours are also a great opportunity to learn more about sustainable gardening and how you can create your own green oasis in harmony with nature. Finally, the plant exchange market offers the opportunity to exchange plants with each other and thus bring new botanical treasures into your home gardens.
With a program that has something for both adults and children, the Deutzen eco-church not only wants to provide information, but also encourage participation and discussion. A look at the market of possibilities promises a happy atmosphere and the opportunity to exchange ideas about sustainable practices - so don't miss it!
We look forward to an exciting environmental day with a focus on community and awareness of a sustainable future. Be there too and experience what the Deutzen Eco-Church has to offer on this special day!
