Child prodigy Amir Mohamed: Achieved his high school diploma with a dream grade of 0.8 in Plauen!

What an outstanding success! Amir Mohamed, an 18-year-old high school graduate from Diesterweg-Gymnasium in Plauen, passed his school leaving examination with a fantastic grade point average of 0.8. This is an achievement that is making waves not only in his school, but also in the region. The young man, who is of half-Egyptian origin and moved to Germany from Hurghada in 2016, has won the hearts of many with his fascination for logic and his commitment. His secret? Listen carefully, that really helped him.

The ceremonial award ceremony took place on June 14, 2025 in the Plauen Theater. While the graduates ceremoniously received their certificates, Amir, the best in his class with a grade point average of 1.0, was also duly celebrated. Other best of the year were Julika Schmidt with 1.3 as well as Michel Grünitz, Charlotte Penzel and Helene Sachs, who all scored 1.4. Lydia Körner and Theo Valentin complete the list of the best with an average of 1.5. It's nice to see how the students have developed over the last few years. There was therefore great anticipation for the prom celebrations that were now being planned.

The Diesterweg-Gymnasium in celebration mode

To honor the achievements of the graduates, preparations for the prom are in full swing. Rehearsals for various stage performances are already underway. The event promises to be not only an opportunity to celebrate success, but also an important social setting for the students as they complete this important phase of their lives together. However, there is a bit of a shadow, as the originally planned final piece had to be postponed due to illness.

Instead, viewers can look forward to the performance of the play “Something is Always,” which will take place on June 20, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Tickets are available at the box office and the students look forward to every additional spectator who can enrich the atmosphere in the hall.

A look at the education statistics

Amir Mohamed's success is an example of the positive development in the education system. His performance and that of his classmates inspire many and show that commitment and fascination for knowledge can lead to goals. It will be interesting to see what next steps Amir will plan after he graduates.
