World record attempt: Plauenin runs 342 km without sleep!
It will be exciting in the coming week: The Plauen extreme hiking Christin Ziehr is planning a world record attempt on June 17 that could cause a stir. 342 kilometers are planned, which she wants to travel from Berlin to Plauen in less than 72 hours. The previous record, set up by another hiking enthusiast, is 302 kilometers. Ziehr thus put the bar a lot.
How she wants to get through it? With cola and lots of movement to stay awake. She planned her sleep phases in advance. According to her assessment, the first night becomes relatively easy, while on the second night she has to expect hallucinations and a short sleep phase while walking. The third night, on the other hand, should go better again. But that is not the only challenge that she faces - Ziehr has covered over 8,000 training kilometers in the past few months to be optimally prepared.
sporting successes and ambitious plans
The 37-year-old is no unknown in sports. Recently she won the title of the world champion at the Ultra Wander World Championship and already has an impressive competition calendar for 2024 in the pipeline. So she plans to complete the Cologne path over 171 kilometers on June 28, 2024. Here she would like to clearly undercut the given 48 hours.
With a long list of sporting successes, Ziehr has demonstrated its endurance. From a 100 km march around Frankfurt in 2022 to her current performance at the Hiking World Championship in September 2023, where she was the best woman. Her longest tour took place in May 2022 when she got 270 kilometers around Lake Constance in 55 hours and 15 minutes - a real masterpiece! Her training method varies, on normal days it runs at least 35,000 steps and brings office work on a treadmill and all with a six -year -old son named Mats.
a new way of life
Christin Ziehr only started extreme hikes in September 2021, after a personal life crisis after a 17-year relationship. She has supplemented her training as an IT specialist and geriatric nurse with various management qualifications and has now headed the nursing service "Care with Heart" with 28 employees. In her free time, too, she volunteers in the nursing network and the professional association, shows her passion for the care and support of her fellow human beings.
With her great ambition and a good hand for planning, Christin Ziehr could become the new record holder. On June 17th it is time for the Plauen athlete whose achievements not only inspire us, but also show that the human will can move mountains. We are excited to see if she can master the 342 kilometers without sleep and in record time!
