With this result, VFC Plauen put together an impressive comeback at half-time when they were 2-0 down. In the second half, the Plauen turned their performance around and fought for a draw, which coach Sedat Gören described as an important step in gaining knowledge. The day before, VFC Plauen had already scored a clear 9-0 win against Wacker Plauen, which only increased the anticipation of the meeting with Meuselwitz.
But the game didn't start as hoped for the Plauen team. ZFC Meuselwitz got off to a powerful start and took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute thanks to Florian Hansch, who used a precise pass from Luca Bürger. Despite some good opportunities from Tim Kießling and Hansch, the ZFC was unable to further extend their lead. In the 58th minute, Jasin Jusic took the lead: He put Plauen on the road to victory with a header from a corner. But the hosts refused to give up: In the 70th minute, Tim Kießling brought the ZFC supporters back to the island of hope when he also scored the equalizer with a header.
The exciting final phase once again put Plauen's defensive game to the test. Johan Martynets hit the right post in the last minute of the game and missed to give Plauen the lead.
