Daughter of tradition: New pastor Wittkopf brings a breath of fresh air to Plauen!

A new wind will blow in the Johanniskirche in Plauen from July. Andreas Wittkopf, a native of Bavaria, takes over the leadership from Pastor Hans-Jörg Rummel. After a phase of vacancy of three years, during which Luther Church pastor Andreas Gräßer took charge on an interim basis, Wittkopf describes himself as optimistic about his new role in Vogtland. He last lived in Bremen, and now he is returning to a region that promises him a lot. The path there was just as remarkable as his future assignment, because Wittkopf has an exciting background as a military chaplain.

In addition to his position as pastor in St. John's Church, he will also act as the new parish manager of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Community Association of Plauen. There are currently eight parishes united in this large house, all of which, despite their individual characteristics, agree: they are happy to welcome guests and new members. The invitations to everyone who is interested are warm, because, as the church community association's brand core says, everyone is invited to look around, go and take part in the life of faith. Jesus is described here as the cornerstone who connects everything and serves as the foundation.

Diversity and community in the church community association

The Plauen Church Community Association is a lively network that is supported by the individual communities. They include, among others:

  • St.-Johannis-Kirchgemeinde
  • Markus-Paulus-Kirchgemeinde
  • Luther-Kirchgemeinde
  • K Kirchgemeinde Theuma-Altensalz
  • Stephanus-Kirchgemeinde
  • K Kirchgemeinde Jößnitz
  • K Kirchgemeinde Steinsdorf
  • Versöhnungskirchgemeinde

An association that also includes the cemetery competence center. This field of activity shows how important it is to support people in living their faith and how communities are connected to one another. The bold logo of the federal government symbolizes this unity and spiritual cohesion in the Plauen region.

Church ties are changing

Andreas Wittkopf now has the opportunity to not only provide new impetus in Plauen, but also to have a positive influence in an important time of transformation. The challenge of taking on a vacant position in a traditional region is great, but the commitment and passion he brings could open up new perspectives for the community.

What happens next remains exciting. One thing is certain: the new pastor has every opportunity to strengthen the faith community and bring a breath of fresh air into the venerable walls of St. John's Church.
