Sternquell Wiesn takes off: a festival full of music and joy!
The anticipation is great, because on September 5th, 2025 the fourth Sternquell Wiesn in Plauen is in full swing. Today a very special person is celebrating his birthday: Thomas Hennig, the district administrator, who recognized the social significance of this festive event. One more reason to celebrate this day properly and to extend the festival to another weekend, as Günther Spindler, the technical director of the Sternquell brewery, announced. The decision was a response to the immense crowds the festival was seeing this year!
There is a lot of feasting and celebrating, as Jörg Schmidt and Andreas Heinz have happily noticed. They were enthusiastic about the high number of visitors and the diverse offerings in Plauen. A look at the numbers: The festival takes place at the Plauen festival site on Outer Reichenbacher Straße and offers space for a total of 2,700 guests in the festival tent as well as an additional 1,200 seats in the beer garden, where it is particularly cozy when the weather is good.
A promising program
The trade fair has put together an extensive and entertaining program. So the Stadl opened today at 5 p.m. with the Auerbach city orchestra and Die Fetzentaler ensuring that the atmosphere really rises in the evening. The entire event lasts 34 hours and offers a great mix of music and regional flair with 9 live acts. Eva Döhla, the mayor of Hof, also praised the successful draft beer tapping.
Everyone who hasn't been there yet has the opportunity to join in the celebrations on Saturday and Sunday. Especially on Sunday, a lively atmosphere is created with a parade at 11 a.m. and other highlights such as the Markneukirchen brass orchestra. Here, traditional music-making meets modern joie de vivre, and the festival in the tent then starts with a colorful program.
We'll stay until Sunday
Steffen Zenner, the mayor of Plauen, is delighted with the large number of guests who came to the Sternquell Wiesn. “The event is not only very important for us as a city, but also promotes the local economy!” said the mayor. Jan Gerbeth, managing director of the Sternquell brewery, also missed no opportunity to praise the hard work and commitment of his employees and partners during the festival. Thomas Münzer, the marketing manager, agreed and wishes harmonious celebrations for the remaining days.
Overall, the Sternquell Wiesn is a great example of the love of beer and socializing, as can also be observed at other German beer festivals. Beer specialties, most of which come fresh from the barrel, and a varied range of dishes from grilled dishes to Asian delicacies ensure an all-round successful celebration, as a look at the last few years shows. The beer festival culture is very popular everywhere!
Admission to the Sternquell Wiesn is free, and that is certainly an additional incentive to give visitors an unforgettable evening in the festival tent. So just come along and celebrate! It's best to invite your friends and enjoy the good life together. Because one thing is certain: there is always something going on at the Sternquell Wiesn!
