Plauen youngster Ben Wiegner: Rise to the motorcycle elite!

The young motorcycle racer Ben Wiegner from Plauen has made a name for himself in the racing scene. At just 15 years old, in addition to his previous successes in the Kawasaki Cup, he was able to fight for the top 5 in the IDM last weekend at the Schleizer triangle. These promising performances are further proof of his talent, which he has demonstrated several times in the past. Last year he successfully took part in the Northern Talent Cup with a 250 cc Moto3 Honda and is now ready for challenging races in the Kawasaki ZX4/RR Cup, where he has a displacement of 400 cubic centimeters and 77 hp, in contrast to the 48 hp in Moto3.

In the still fresh 2025 season, Wiegner already showed good performances on Saturday, but was able to improve again on Sunday and managed to consolidate his position in the IDM. But that's not all: some other German talents are also learning from Wiegner in the Northern Talent Cup (NTC). In 2024 he was on the starting line as a rookie in the NTC and took part in a strong competition in which six German drivers faced international competition. His goal for the current 2025 season is to place in the top five.

A relaxed approach to school and racing

Wiegner masters the balance between school and racing with flying colors. His school performance is going well and he is particularly fond of sports. The respect for the teachers who support him in his education shows his sense of responsibility. Inspired by his father and siblings, Wiegner found his way to motorcycles at the tender age of three. Since then he has competed in various competitions, from the Saxony Cup to the ADAC Mini Bike Cup.

His sporting career is impressive: After finishing 7th in the Saxony Cup in 2015, he was already the title holder in the ADAC Pocket Bike Cup in 2018. In 2022 he crowned his participation in the Honda Talent Cup with second place. He also attracted attention in international competitions such as the FIM MiniGP World Final and achieved 8th place in the overall ranking.

Healthy preparation with big goals

For the coming competition season, Wiegner has not only got himself fit on the motorcycle, but also muscularly and athletically. He trains regularly indoors and recently took a trip to Spain to prepare for the white tracks. The young racer took Dani Pedrosa as a role model and tried to transfer his leadership style to his own races. The newly published entry list for the 2025 Northern Talent Cup shows that Wiegner will compete in a starting field of 24 drivers from 13 different countries, which makes the competition conditions even more exciting. With strong support from his team and a firm focus, he hopes to be at the forefront of these international stages.

The season is promising and it will be exciting for viewers to follow Ben Wiegner's development. The possibility that there will be two wild cards for additional talents per round also increases the excitement. Honda as the sole manufacturer and Pirelli as the tire supplier also guarantee that there will be a lot of action on the track.

A look at the entry list shows that Wiegner not only challenges talent from Germany, but also meets national pilots from a wide range of countries: Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Switzerland are there, which underlines the international flavor. With this wide variety, the Northern Talent Cup will certainly be one of the highlights of the 2025 racing year.
