Honorable award: Plauen art teacher has been inspiring for 45 years!
Last Saturday the exhibition of the “Fine Arts” working group opened in the Thread Factory. Under the motto “Pointy” visitors can admire the talented works of the young artists. At this festive opening, Helga Mühlmann, the long-standing head of the working group, received a very special award from the German Child Protection Association. She was awarded the Golden Badge of Honor for her tireless commitment to volunteer work over 45 years. Mühlmann has headed the AG since April 1, 1980 and passionately pursues the goal of bringing artistic training closer to children and young people Freie Presse reports that ....
In this creative community, children and young people come together every Wednesday between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the Children's Culture Café at Friedensstraße 27. Here they learn the basic techniques of painting and develop their skills in the fine arts. The participants not only find creative leisure activities in the working group, but also an alternative form of communication through drawing you can find out more here.
Social aspects of art education
A particularly pleasing aspect of the “Fine Arts” working group is that the participant fees are deliberately kept low. This also enables children from socially disadvantaged families to take part in the artistic offerings. The commitment of Helga Mühlmann and her group helps to ensure that the children's talents are promoted and that they can live out their creativity. For many of them, this is a valuable opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings in a creative way.
In recent years, numerous works by the AG members have been presented in various exhibitions in the Vogtland district. These platforms offer young talents the opportunity to present their work to the public and gain valuable experience. The German Child Protection Association sees the AG as a central part of its support for children in the region and actively supports this project.
Call for support
The importance of art projects and voluntary work in the social system is becoming increasingly important. The Foundation for Culture and Children sees this as a central challenge and offers committed companies the opportunity to contribute to the continuation of such offers through financial and material support. It is up to all of us to create an environment in which children and young people receive the support they need for their personal and artistic development.
