Celebrate together in Sankt Pieschen: music, fun and international delicacies!

On June 4, 2025, the “Sankt Pieschen” district festival celebrated a more colorful comeback than ever before. The event, which attracts locals and visitors alike, represents a sense of community and cultural diversity. The sun's rays shone in full splendor over the happy festival visitors and contributed to the positive mood that spread among the artists and participants. LaRey, the talented rapper from Dresden, and DJ Partypilz, who has the children's disco scene firmly under control, clearly felt comfortable on stage and enjoyed working with the children.

DJ Party Pilz looks back on four years of experience in the children's disco and knew that the importance of this festival should not be underestimated - after all, he was last represented in Pieschen ten years ago. “A repeat next year would be great,” said LaRey, expressing her desire to continue the colorful children’s disco tradition. The DJ was particularly pleased with the large participation of the little festival visitors, who enthusiastically celebrated the rhythm of his music.

Delicious cuisine and creative offerings

Among the stalls you could also find Amjet, a chef from Syria, who enchanted with oriental delicacies. His specialty, rice with minced meat and vegan sweets, was literally devoured by the guests. Amjet, who usually works in a refugee home, brings a piece of his homeland to Germany with his kitchen. His stand has been an integral part of the festival since last year.

Ingolf Hermann, a master potter who has been part of the festival since the very beginning, demonstrated his craftsmanship together with Ricardo Schwarz. Also Johannes Oßwald from the association “Stoffwechsel e.V.” helped ensure that the children could play happily with a family play street and a climbing wall. The volunteers who support the festival create a space for encounters and participation.

A festival of community

“Cloud Cuckooland” – that was the motto that Jo and Fölli announced. Behind every corner of the festival there were harmonious community projects, like that of Rosa Melodie, which has developed from a building community to a homeowners' association and a community garden was a must. Miriam and André Sajonz, operators of the “Heavenly Key” flower shop, brought plants and flowers to make the event even more lively.

The festival also included the Pieschner cinema tips, which have been presented since May 29th. With a colorful program that had something to offer for everyone, the festival was a complete success and will certainly leave a lasting impression in the hearts of the participants.

And while the voices of runners and festival visitors echoed through the streets, one thing remains clear: the festival is not just a gathering, but a living expression of Pieschner identity and community. Cohesion and interest in cultural events are flourishing, as the four women interested in literature who have agreed to take part in the next literature festival impressively show. After the last festival, the joy of the encounters remained, and the desire to get together again next year is in the air.
