Block party in Halle-Neustadt: When swans learn to fly digitally!

A colorful feast for the senses awaits the residents of Halle-Neustadt on Friday, July 11, 2025! From 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Meisdorfer Straße will be transformed into a lively venue full of creative offerings and digital experiences. The block party takes place under the motto “When swans learn to fly”, which not only pays homage to the artwork “Flight of the Swans” by Heinz Möhrdel from 1984, but is also part of the urban model project “Smart City Halle (Saale)”. Hallanzeiger reports that the event offers an exciting interplay of interactive digital educational offerings and an exuberant street party.

The highlight of the event will certainly be the mural by Danilo Halle and Hanna Müller-Kaempffer, which visitors can experience using augmented reality. Equipped with a smartphone, guests can bring the “flying swans” to life digitally. This makes the thrilling experience even more lively, as participants even have the opportunity to create small swan models with a 3D printer.

Cultural diversity and musical highlights

The event also offers a diverse musical program. With the swing band The Perky Pollyvocs from Dresden and DJ VanDuschka, who plays a mix of funk and soul, there is something for every taste. Anyone who has always wanted to shake a leg has the chance to take part in a swing dance workshop. Dubisthalle highlights that entry to the block party is free - a perfect offer for families and friends!

But that's not all! A mobile creative offering is provided for the little visitors, where they can have fun exchanging plants, painting with chalk or playing circus games. There is also a guided tour with Martin Maleschka, an expert in GDR art, which provides an exciting insight into the region's art history.

Digital innovation in the district

The city of Halle (Saale) also uses the opportunity to present current and future Smart City projects. In the context of urban development, the use of augmented reality is also discussed, which not only plays a role at the festival, but can also be used in other areas such as navigation and wayfinding. An example of this is the gamified navigation solution from Hochbahn Hamburg and ZAUBAR, which includes an AR application that could be helpful in public spaces. ZAUBAR shows how such technologies can significantly improve the user experience in cities.

The block party in Halle-Neustadt is not only a celebration of joie de vivre, but also an exciting field of experimentation for digital innovations. The combination of art, music and technological innovations makes the event an experience not to be missed.
