Dynamo Dresden overwhelms Regensburg 5-1 – strong comeback in the friendly!

What a football festival in the Auerbach Vogtland Stadium! Dynamo Dresden won against SSV Jahn Regensburg with an impressive 5-1 on October 10, 2025. Despite a greatly reduced squad, with several regular players missing, the Dynamo players didn't let themselves be taken away from their bread.

Coach Thomas Stamm was visibly satisfied with his team's performance after the game. In front of 587 spectators, including VfB coach Sven Köhler, the Dynamos showed an impressive fighting performance. What was particularly pleasing was that the team only had 13 field players and two goalkeepers. Anthony Hauptmann, Timmy Daferner and Jan Faber were among those absent, but the remaining players were undeterred.

Gates on the assembly line

The game picked up speed in the 12th minute: Dominik Kother opened with a goal from a cross from Tony Menzel. Just five minutes later, Luca Herrmann scored with a header, also after an assist from Kother. Jan-Hendrik Marx provided the next highlight in the 43rd minute with a remarkable free kick from 25 meters.

After Regensburg made it 1-3 shortly after half-time in the 47th minute with a penalty kick from Phil Beckhoff, Stefan Kutschke restored the old gap with a goal in the 54th minute to make it 4-1. In the 71st minute, Lars Bünning was finally able to get on the scoresheet as he headed the score to 5-1. It is noteworthy that Kother, who had already been substituted, returned to the game due to the reduced squad - an honorable gesture!

Personnel returns and injury problems

The victory comes at just the right time for Dynamo, as the team had already gone five games without a win in the league. Particularly noteworthy was the comeback of Alexander Rossipal, who returned after an eight-week injury break, as well as the return of Vinko Sapina, who was back on the pitch for the first time after a suspension. A direct connection to the injury problem in football is important to mention: According to the Society for Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery, around 50% of injuries are contact injuries, which occur particularly at high running speeds.

Today's performances by the returnees and the entire team show how much you can rely on creative solutions even in difficult situations. When clever substitutions and a good dose of team spirit come together, even a small squad can achieve amazing results.

Overall, this test shows that Dynamo Dresden not only has something to offer in terms of play, but is also able to overcome challenges. Now it's time to take this positive energy into the next league game and continue the upward trend!
