Dresden Design Commission: Big projects and new team in 2025!

A look back at the last few years shows that the Dresden Design Commission supported major construction projects between 2021 and 2024. A total of 47 projects were discussed in 15 meetings. The outstanding projects include the expansions of Infineon Technologies and des Saxon state parliament, the Kulturwerkschule in Trachau and the heart center in Johannstadt. The commission also organized a competition for the thermal waste treatment plant on Hammerweg.

The design commission, which has been dealing with important building projects since 2016, has made it its mission to ensure architectural quality in Dresden.   • Thermische Abfallbehandlungsanlage: Auch hier sind Modernisierungen und Erweiterungen geplant, die zusammen mit SachsenEnergie durch einen Wettbewerb entschieden werden.

From autumn 2025 there will be changes within the commission. Jorunn Ragnarsdóttir, Kilian Kresing and Ulrike Böhm are leaving, while Prof. Irene Lohaus, Susanne Wartzeck and Heiner Farwick are becoming new members. Prof. Lohaus brings a lot of experience as a landscape architect and urban planner, as she has been teaching at the TU Dresden since 2010.
