New cycling route in Johannstadt: Connection for safe ways until July!

Pirnaische Vorstadt, Deutschland - On June 2, 2025, the construction work for the new connection between Comeniusstraße and Stübelallee started. This further expanded the Radroute Dresden Ost and significantly improved, because the new foot and bike path is created in parallel to the track system of the tram. The new path has a width of three meters and offers cyclists the opportunity to reach Comeniusstraße across Güntzstraße. Pedestrians can use the Comeniusstraße and the passage on the SP1 to Strasburger Platz, while cyclists have to follow the signposted cycling through Wintergartenstrasse.

The construction work costs around 160,000 euros, with the federal government promoting around 85 percent of the costs through the special program "City and Land". This program aims to improve the conditions for pedestrians and cyclists in Dresden. In addition, various measures are planned to further increase the city's pedestrian friendliness.
