Dresden invites you to the Long Night of Science: Experience knowledge!

On Friday, June 20, 2025, Dresden will be transformed into a science mecca from 5 p.m. to midnight. The motto of the 22nd Dresden Long Night of Science is “The night that makes you smarter”. An event that will attract everyone who is curious, inquisitive and inquisitive!

The event is supported by scientific institutions, universities and research-oriented companies. Here visitors can experience research up close. From interactive tours to exciting lectures to exciting workshops, experiments and entertaining shows – there is something for everyone. This year, the focus is particularly on science for young people, who will be addressed with special program items.

Active participation and wonder

A special highlight of the night is the live demonstration of microelectronics presented by the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems (IPMS). Also new to the program are the start-up synnyg with its DiggiClub and the Hannah Arendt Institute for Research on Totalitarianism (HAIT), both of which are contributing in innovative ways. Mayor Dirk Hilbert emphasized the enormous importance of the event for Dresden's scientific landscape and called on citizens to visit the event.

Another exciting program item is the Science Slam, in which scientists present their latest findings in a humorous way. From “Extra secure communication with light” to “Infrared: Long wave, but by no means boring” – the topics are as diverse as the interested visitors. Aha moments are guaranteed!

For the very little researchers

Especially for the young researchers among us, there is the junior format JUNIORDOKTOR, where the little scientists can collect stamps. Ralph Caspers, known from television, supports the event and explained in a video message why the visit is definitely worth it.

To ensure that visitors are well informed, there is already an interactive event overview and travel information. This builds anticipation for an evening full of discoveries!

For all scientists who want to professionalize themselves in advance, the e-learning course on social media in science communication from the National Institute for Science Communication (NaWik) is proving to be a valuable opportunity. Here, participants not only receive valuable insights into how to use social media, but also a certificate of participation and can immediately implement the knowledge they have learned.
