Summer 1975 in Dresden: Memories of sunny days and the joy of swimming!

The summer of 1975 in Dresden was characterized by mild winds and plenty of sunshine, but there were only a few really hot days. The people of Dresden used the warm months to be active and enjoy the city. Prager Straße was the perfect opportunity to sunbathe, while many grabbed their swimming trunks and jumped into the Georg-Arnhold-Bad. Nearby, the Moritzburger Mittelteichbäder baths attracted people for relaxing excursions, where they also enjoyed the fresh air while cycling to the ice cream parlor at Schillergarten. The allotments and campsites nearby also invited you to linger, and you could enjoy nature to the fullest on trips to the Bastei in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. So the summer was not just a time out, but also a time for creativity: Some Dresden residents were busy on construction sites, with the tunnel under Neustädter Markt being a particular challenge.

Another highlight for the people of Dresden was the Prohlis outdoor swimming pool, which also provided cooling in August 1975. Today, the Prohlis combined pool houses both a modern indoor swimming pool and an outdoor pool, which is a popular destination in summer. Regardless of whether you want to splash around in the paddling pool for the little ones or use the lanes for adults, everyone will find their place here.

Fast entry and numerous offers

The Prohlis outdoor pool offers the opportunity to purchase tickets both online and at the box office. If you ever lose your access authorization, you can fix this for just 5 euros. Children up to one meter tall are admitted free, and applicants with severe disabilities also have reduced access if proof is provided. The reduced tickets are valid for children and young people up to 17 years of age and Monday to Friday from 4 p.m.

There is also a Dresdner Bäder advantage card, which can be purchased with a minimum value of 50 euros. This means that visitors receive a 10 percent discount on the entry price for every visit to the pool and sauna. Anyone who would like to know what the outdoor pool has to offer in terms of cuisine will be pleased to find that the restaurants in the outdoor pool ensure the physical well-being of the guests.

Active and relaxing – a holistic experience

The indoor swimming pool, which is open all year round, has a lot to offer: six lanes are each 25 meters long and invite you to enjoy sporty swimming. The tube slides, one even with a speedometer, and a separate hall for diving platforms provide entertainment. Not only swimmers but also water lovers will get their money's worth here, with special offers such as swimming courses and water aerobics that are accessible to all age groups.

The Prohlis combined pool is a true center for water sports and leisure activities. While the swimmers do their laps in the heated swimming pool at a pleasant 26 degrees Celsius, sun worshipers lounge in the outdoor pool and use the various pools, which are suitable for all ages. In the warm months, a stay there is a must for all Dresden residents and visitors to the city who want to enjoy life. The outdoor pool is open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and offers the opportunity to escape from everyday life and simply immerse yourself on Saturday until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday until 6:00 p.m.

For everyone who wants to take a plunge: Anyone who comes by the last Saturday of the month can take advantage of the offer in the afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Just stop by and enjoy the sun and the refreshing pools!
