Participation record in the Plauen-Hof city run: Over 210 runners at the start!
The anticipation for the 34th city run between the twin cities of Hof and Plauen is growing! The event will take place on August 16, 2025 and will have a record number of participants this year. According to current status, 210 active athletes have already registered, making the event one of the most popular running events in the region. This has already been reported View.
In collaboration with the Vogtland District Sports Association and the Vogtland and Hochfranken savings banks, the city run will be a real highlight for all winners and recreational runners. The starting point for the main run is at the SV Concordia Plauen sports field at Hegelstrasse 56, where Mayor Steffen Zenner will speak at 8:30 a.m. to officially open the event. Different speed groups are sent out on the route in staggered stages, so that there is something for every fitness level.
Diverse route offerings
Participants can look forward to three different routes: a challenging 33 km route dedicated exclusively to running, as well as two shorter distances of 16.5 and 8 kilometers, which are also suitable for Nordic walking. These shorter routes start at the Krebes car park in Weischlitz or at the Ullitz car park in Triebel. All routes offer beautiful views and aid stations stocked with drinks, snacks and fruit.
The destination of the run is the “Eisteich Hof” leisure center, where the first runners are expected from around 12.15 p.m. After the run, all finishers can look forward to a medal and a certificate to properly celebrate their achievement.
Nordic walking – a hit for your health
The shorter routes are particularly popular with Nordic walkers. Nordic walking has established itself in Germany as a health-promoting sport that originally comes from cross-country skiing. This training relies on precise technique. The poles are used in synchronization with the feet while walking, increasing intensity without causing undue strain. The correct pole length is crucial: about two thirds of your height is ideal. If you are 1.80 m tall, the poles should be around 1.20 m long.
How HD Sports As noted, Nordic walking events are often part of larger running events in Germany, including the city run. As part of such events, walkers can demonstrate their fitness over distances of 5 to 100 kilometers.
Those interested have the opportunity to register online for the city run by August 10th. Further information is available on the official website www.staedtelauf-plauen-hof.de available.
