Plauen: Top Princess Maxi extends her term of office until 2029!

There is exciting news in Plauen: the popular top princess Maxi Schulz will remain in office for another year. Originally elected for a four-year term ending in 2025, the decision was made to extend Maxi's term for another year. This was recently announced by the Plauener Spitze industry association, which has awarded the key position of Lace Princess annually since 1996.

Maxi Schulz was crowned the tenth Plauen Top Princess in July 2021. In her role, she not only represents the industry association, but also the city of Plauen and the entire Vogtland district. Her public appearances include the annual highlight, the top festival, the Night of the Museums and the visit of the Saxon Prime Minister in April. Together with the city tour and workshops in show embroidery, she had the opportunity to gain deep insights into the tradition and artistry of Plauen lace. The region has been at the heart of German embroidery for over 150 years, with around 13 companies thriving under the Plauener Spitze® trademark.

A look at the candidates

While Maxi extends her term in office, there is already a new competition for the successor. A total of 14 women applied to become the next Plauen top princess. After a first selection round, nine candidates are still in the running. They had the opportunity to prepare intensively for the election and gain insights into the art of embroidery and city life in workshops. Highlights include training sessions for show dance and catwalk with Jeanette Breitsprach as well as the fashion support of Saruul Fischer with his label “Edelziege”.

The portraits of all candidates will be exhibited in the city gallery of Plauen, and citizens will have the chance to vote to bring their favorites one step closer to the crown. The election is supported by various companies and clubs from Plauen, including five vouchers worth 25 euros each.

The candidates in detail

• Luisa Baumgärtner (18, Jößnitz): Schülerin, spricht Deutsch, Englisch und Russisch. Ihre Hobbys sind Tanzen und Singen; ihr Ziel ist es, die Region und die Plauener Spitze zu repräsentieren.
• Leonie-Sophie Becker (18, Schneckengrün): In Ausbildung, spricht Englisch, Französisch und Sorbisch. Kochen und Reisen zählen zu ihren Hobbys, sie möchte sich für Plauen und dessen Traditionen engagieren.
• Julia-Frederike Fleischer (30, Plauen): Sachbearbeiterin, spricht Deutsch, Englisch und Französisch. Ihr Hobby ist der Tierschutz, und sie möchte ein Vorbild für junge Mädchen sein.
• Salomé Föllner (27, Plauen): Ergotherapeutin, spricht Deutsch und Englisch. Sie interessiert sich fürs Lesen und Handarbeiten; ihr Ziel ist es, das Vogtland als touristisches Ziel zu fördern.
• Simona Frišmantaitė-Jahn (33, Eubenberg): Mediendesignerin mit Sprachkenntnissen in Litauisch, Russisch, Deutsch, Englisch und Französisch. Ihre Hobbys sind Sport und kreatives Handwerk; sie möchte Frauen inspirieren und motivieren.
• Denise Kitscha (32, Lengenfeld): Gesundheits- und Krankenpflegerin, spricht Deutsch und Englisch. Ihr Hobby ist der Sport, und sie möchte Plauen und die Plauener Spitze repräsentieren.
• Hilde Martens (18, Rodewisch): angehende Hebamme mit Sprachkenntnissen in Englisch, Französisch und Spanisch. Sie hat eine große Leidenschaft für Natur, Sport und Musik; ihr Ziel ist es, die Plauener Spitze in die Gesellschaft zu integrieren.
• Maxi Schulz (19, Coschütz): Medizinstudentin, spricht Englisch. Sie bringt Sport und Gitarre als Hobbys mit; ihr Ziel ist, ihre Heimat und die Plauener Spitze zu vertreten.
• Katharina Patricia Wolf (21, Plauen): duale Studentin und mehrsprachig (Deutsch, Englisch, Französisch). Ihre Hobbys sind Laufen und Rettungsschwimmen; sie möchte Plauen als Ausbildungsstandort fördern.
