Accident fog in Pieschen: driver flees, e-bikes stolen from the parking lot!

On Wednesday morning there was a small accident in a parking lot on Großenhainer Straße in Dresden-Pieschen. A 64-year-old driver of an Opel hit a Mitsubishi while parking. Two people initially identified themselves as the owners of the Mitsubishi, but shortly afterwards left the scene of the accident. The police are now asking witnesses for information as to whether there was any damage to the Mitsubishi. Another incident occurred between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning when two e-bikes worth around 10,000 euros were stolen from a garage on Weinbergstrasse in Dresden-Trachenberge. The perpetrators managed to break into the garage in a previously unknown way and stole the e-bikes along with their batteries and charging cables. No material damage was found. This could be a planned act, as the masterminds are exploiting current trends in the theft of e-bikes.

The traffic accident statistics 2024

Road safety remains an important issue, as police statistics show. In 2024, a total of12,857 traffic accidentsregistered by the police, which in terms of numbers is almost unchanged from the previous year's statistics (12,859 accidents in 2023). But not all the numbers are positive: the number of accidents rose by 2.8%2,646 people, in which seven people died in road accidents, an increase from the previous year.
