Sunny district festival in Pieschen: fun for young and old!

Last weekend, the Pieschen district was transformed into a pulsating center of joy and conviviality. Thousands of visitors streamed into the streets on Friday and Saturday, turning the Sankt Pieschen district festival into a tireless feast for the senses. The crowds were particularly large around the stage at Konkordienplatz, which is not surprising considering the extensive program that had something to offer for both adults and children. The Oschatz, Torgauer and Konkordienstrasse were overcrowded and people didn't really make much progress - the sheer rush made for sociable encounters and a happy atmosphere. Anyone who needed a short break could retreat under a shady linden tree before heading back to Cloud Cuckoo Land, where there was the opportunity to take part in workshops or simply enjoy relaxed sounds.

A varied program

A highlight of the district festival was the great gastronomic variety on Oschatzer Straße, which offered international food and drinks. On Saturday, in warm summer weather, shady places were particularly popular. Many found a welcome cool down in the cool French shop.

Sunday offered a full program, ranging from a children's circus to dance performances to a glittering disco with Louis Lametta and LaRey. Anyone who wanted to take part in the numerous activities and performances had the opportunity to do so. Unicorns in Cloud Cuckoo Land made children's eyes light up and made every little girl's heart beat faster. As the organizer of the festival, Andreas Koenitz, the chairman of the “Sankt Pieschen” association, was able to look back on an all-round successful event that brought the community together.

Activities for the whole family

Saturday was full of child-friendly activities on Torgauer Straße, including rubber duckies, climbing opportunities and a large bouncy castle, which made the festival an unforgettable experience, especially for families. The social hustle and bustle was accompanied by musical performances that took place in various locations.

The following program was part of the district festival:

• Freitag, 30. Mai 2025: Auftakt mit verschiedenen Bands auf Hofmusik und DJ-Sets an der Torgauer Straße.
• Samstag, 31. Mai 2025: Kinderzirkus, Tanzvorführungen und Live-Musik rund um den Konkordienplatz und im Wolkenkuckucksheim.
• Sonntag, 1. Juni 2025: Ein vielfältiges Programm mit dem 3. Sankt Pieschen Lauf, Künstlermarkt und einem ökumenischen Gottesdienst, der den festlichen Abschluss bildete.

If you attended the festival in Pieschen, you were not only treated to a variety of cultural performances, but also invited to stroll around in peace and enjoy the hustle and bustle. A successful performance by the community that calls for a repeat!
