A monument in the heart of Dresden
The Golden Rider, the city's most famous monument, will serve as the backdrop for the festival. Inaugurated in 1736, the statue shows August the Strong in the form of a Roman Caesar on his stallion. It is a reminder not only of the ruler's position of power, but also of the connection between Saxony and Poland. This imposing statue was badly damaged during World War II but was reassembled between 1953 and 1956. It most recently received a major restoration from 2001 to 2003 after being damaged on several occasions, most recently by vandalism in 2011.
A look outside the box shows that there are also numerous medieval markets and knight's festivals in Saxony, which equally attract families. Popular events such as the medieval spectacle in the Altzella monastery park or the festivals at the Kriebstein and Mildenstein castles are very popular among the locals. Such festivals offer exciting insights into the historical crafts and culture of bygone times and are another great experience for the whole family, as StadtLandTour reports.
The family festival at the Goldener Reiter promises to be a festival for all generations, with a colorful mix of music, dance, culinary delicacies and a historical atmosphere. Mark the dates in your calendar and look forward to an unforgettable weekend!
