What an outdoor pool summer for Dresden! The Zschonergrundbad has been named the most popular outdoor swimming pool in Germany, in a ranking based on over 300,000 Google Maps reviews. With an impressive rating of 4.7 stars from 444 reviews, the bathroom has taken the lead and leaves the competition behind. In the rankings, followed by outdoor swimming pools in Bielefeld and Karlsruhe, Saxony has now also overtaken the Bavarian leisure oases.
The Zschonergrundbad not only impresses with its high rating, but also with its idyllic location, sustainable technology and inclusive operation. The water is treated biologically, without any chlorine - gravel filters and microorganisms ensure crystal clear conditions. The bathroom was already ranked number one in 2019 and 2021 by Testbericht.de, and the success appears to be continuing in 2025.
Dresden's outdoor pools in the top ranking
But the Zschonergrundbad is not the only one that shines: the Wostra outdoor pool has also improved from 97th place to 8th place. This decline in ranking is not noticeable because the outdoor pool offers pure bathing pleasure with a 50-meter combination pool, the highest diving tower in the city and barrier-free access. Saxony overtakes Bavaria
Overall, Saxony now has three outdoor pools in the top ten, while Bavaria is only represented with two pools. I'm interested in the cities with the best outdoor pools: That's where it's at Braunschweig with an average rating of 4.5, followed by Wolfsburg and Bielefeld. Dresden itself comes in seventh place in the city ranking with a respectable average of 4.41 stars.
