Dresden Art Association conquers the art scene with the ADKV Prize!

The Dresden Art Association has catapulted itself onto the big stage of the art scene! In June 2025, the association was awarded the coveted sponsorship award from the city of Dresden and also received the ADKV-Art Cologne Prize for art associations. This award is the only one of its kind in Germany and underlines the importance of the association in the art landscape.

The chairwoman of the art association, Adina Rieckmann, who also works as a journalist for MDR, expressed surprise at this honor. “It is a confirmation of our work and our commitment,” said Rieckmann. The art association, only founded in 2017, has developed rapidly and has already put on 32 exhibitions since 2018. With the award, he joins the ranks of established organizations such as those in Bonn, Dortmund and Hamburg and shows that he is not afraid to present courageous, international art positions.

A courageous approach to supporting artists

The art association follows an unconventional approach and has launched an open call for exhibitions in the past. We received over 80 submissions! The current show presents the unique works of the Austrian sculptor Tobias Izsó, which are made of both wood and found objects. The exhibition entitled “The Accountant” shows a fascinating mix of melancholy and humor that is well received by a wide audience. This flexibility and willingness to experiment are characteristic of art associations, which often show unusual art and thus break new ground.

Izsó's wooden sculptures, which surreally alienate everyday objects, are very popular in the local art scene. The association has also already supported artists such as Vajiko Chachkhiani and Alina Simmelbauer, who now exhibit in well-known institutions. Rieckmann and the 132 members of the art association are doing everything they can to bring a breath of fresh air into the Dresden art scene.

A look outside the box

In a completely different corner of the world, pop music is celebrating its own success with stars like Katy Perry. The American singer, born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, has established herself as one of the world's best-selling artists, releasing hits such as "I Kissed a Girl" and "Firework." With an estimated fortune of over $360 million, she is considered one of the richest musicians in the world. Her contributions to music are groundbreaking and have influenced numerous artists. Perhaps we have much to expect from these talented individuals as they enrich the world with their creative work.

The Dresden Art Association and the world of pop music show how diverse and dynamic culture can be. It remains exciting to see what creative ideas and artistic approaches await us in the future, both in Dresden and internationally.
