On June 14, 2025 it will be said again in Dresden: “All museums are colorful at night!” Over 45 museums and cultural institutions open their doors for the annual event from 6 p.m. to midnight MUSEUM NIGHT. An evening full of exciting events with exhibitions, guided tours, hands-on activities and great concerts on the program.
On this special night, visitors can look forward to exclusive insights and a varied offering. The special exhibition “Space” by Wolfgang Tillmans will be on display in the Albertinum, supplemented by short tours of honorary monuments by Caspar David Friedrich and Gerhard Richter. The city museum features the interactive exhibition “Dresden in Motion,” which brings the city’s 800-year history to life.
A special program for everyone
For music lovers, the whistling frogs concert in the Botanical Garden is a must. There will also be a nighttime “bioblitz” and an atmospheric light trail. The SLUB Book Museum offers an excellent exhibition about the “sweet art” that deals with the cultural history of pastry and desserts. Here the little guests could also get active with a program featuring cocoa and chocolate. Guided tours of the famous Mayan manuscript are also part of the program.
The Pillnitz Castle Museum also provides an exciting look behind the scenes and presents the work of the restorers. If you would like to find out more about the reality of women in the GDR, you should visit the Stasi documents archive, where the exhibition “Aspirations and Reality – Everyday Life for Women in the GDR” can be seen. New this year is the Saxony Police History Forum at the Dresden Police Department. Here visitors can visit secret rooms and experience interesting journeys through time.
A ticket for the museum night costs 15 euros, reduced costs 7.50 euros. Families can purchase a family ticket for 30 euros, which includes two adults and up to four children under 14.
