Use of irritant gas in Dresden: Three injured in front of the Centrum Gallery!

On Saturday evening, around 6 p.m., a major operation by the fire department, rescue service and police took place on Prager Strasse in Dresden. The reason for this was an incident in front of the Centrum Gallery in which an irritating gas-like substance was sprayed. The events became increasingly dramatic because shortly after the operation, three people received medical care - two of them slightly injured and one seriously, who had to be taken to hospital for further treatment. All those affected complained of respiratory and eye irritation, which made the situation appear extremely threatening.

The irritating gas-like substance was presumably intended to be used in the area of a nearby restaurant, with a possible argument being considered to have triggered the incident. But the fire department was able to report that there was never any danger to the population or visitors to the shopping center, which certainly brought relief when they saw the emergency services. The Bild reports on the medical care that was immediately initiated and the fact that the police have now started investigations into dangerous bodily harm.

Consequences for young people

Another incident involving the use of irritating gas occurred recently and could be related: As Spiegel reports, 38 students also sustained injuries due to the use of irritating gas. These events shed a worrying light on safety in public spaces and, in particular, on the dangers posed by such harsh chemicals.

The city will certainly have to take a closer look at how such incidents will be dealt with in the future. In addition to preventative work in schools and public institutions, it is crucial that citizens also recognize their own responsibilities and take preventing violence seriously.

These current tense situations in Dresden may be worrying, but they also illustrate how important cohesion and vigilance are in our community. Everyone involved hopes that similar incidents can be avoided in the future and that those responsible are held accountable.
