New refill stations in Dresden: Free water for everyone!

Dresden is now bubbling on several corners, as the city recently set up two new refill stations for free drinking water. With their new locations at Bodenbacher Straße 100c, where the Exchange and Networking in Old Age project takes place, and Oschatzer Straße 10, in Dresden's 60plus neighborhood, it will be particularly easy to fill up the drinking bottle you bring with you. The stations are easily recognizable through round blue stickers on the shop windows or shop doors. This is part of the initiative to promote access to free drinking water in Dresden. In total, there are now around 70 such stations in the city, most of which are located in the new town and old town, as dawo-dresden.de reports.

But that's not all! Four new water points were also set up in the west of Dresden. In places like the Gorbitzer Library at Merianplatz 4 or the Club Passage at Leutewitzer Ring 5, thirsty people can now also quickly and easily refill their water supply. These measures are part of the Germany-wide refill project and underline the importance of hydration, especially at high temperatures. Children, chronically ill people and older people who rely on sufficient fluids are particularly at risk. The new stations in Gorbitz are the result of the initiatives of the “Heat-Resilient-City” project team, which has been active since October 2017 and is developing proposals for solutions to the challenges of summer heat in cities saechsische.de reports.

Together for healthy hydration

Global warming is also increasing concerns about water supplies. Forecasts indicate a very hot summer, which is encouraging the Dresden city administration to improve the drinking water supply in public spaces. This is shown by a look at Stuttgart, where similar measures are being taken. There, too, the focus is on improving access to drinking water, especially for vulnerable groups. At high temperatures, it is crucial to prevent health risks caused by insufficient fluid intake. The city administration encourages you to always have your own drinking bottle with you to ensure that no one becomes dehydrated, as the article states [stuttgarter-nachrichten.de].

The refill initiative goes hand in hand with the need to raise awareness of one's fluid intake. Users of the refill stations are warmly invited to contact us by sending a simple email to dresden@refill-deutschland.de if they would also like to become part of this green project. In this way, Dresden not only strengthens the community, but also actively contributes to environmental protection.
