New refill stations in Dresden: Free water for everyone!

in Dresden it is now bubbling at several corners, because the city has recently set up two new refill stations for free drinking water. With their new locations on Bodenbacher Straße 100c, where the exchange and networking project takes place in old age, and Oschatzer Straße 10, in the Dresden neighborhood 60plus, it will be particularly easy to fill up the drinking bottle brought with you. The stations are clearly recognizable by round blue stickers on the shop windows or shop doors. This is part of the initiative to promote access to free drinking water in Dresden. In total there are now about 70 such stations in the city, which are mostly located in the new town and old town, as dawo-dresden.de.

But that's not all! Four new water points were also set up in the west of Dresden. At places such as the Gorbitzer library at Merianplatz 4 or the club Passage at the manwitzer Ring 5, thirsty can now also fill up quickly and easily. These measures are part of the Germany-wide refill project and underline the importance of fluid intake, especially at high temperatures. Children, chronically ill and older people who are dependent on sufficient liquid are particularly at risk. The new stations in Gorbitz are the result of the initiatives of the “Heat-Resilient-City” project team, which has been active since October 2017 and developed solutions for the challenges of summer heat in cities, such as Saechsische.de reports.

Together for healthy hydration

War heating also increases the worries about the water supply. Forecasts indicate a very hot summer, which stimulates the Dresden city administration to improve the drinking water supply in public space. This shows a look at Stuttgart, where similar measures are taken. There, too, the focus is on improving access to drinking water, especially for vulnerable groups. At high temperatures, it is crucial to prevent health risks through inadequate fluid intake. The city administration asks to always have your own drinking bottle with you to ensure that nobody dries out, like the article [stuttgarter-nachrichten.de] (https://www.stuttgarter-nachrichten.de/inhalt.EXtreme-hitze-droht-wasserspender-in-caf-s-s-s-stadt-zum-trinken-anim- " illustrated.

The Refill initiative goes hand in hand with the need to raise awareness of your own fluid intake. Users of the Refill stations are welcome to contact a simple email to Dresden@refill-deutschland.de if you also want to become part of this green project. Dresden not only strengthens the community, but also actively contributes to environmental protection.
